As I was working on my strength and overall physical health, I was so fortunate to have met Nehal!  She is not only a wonderful physical therapist but a warm, empathetic person.  She knows when to push and when to hold back!   I couldn’t have asked for a better PT than Nehal.

I started seeing Nick as soon as  I got out of the hospital after I broke both legs.  Nick is fabulous, a great clinician who is knowledgeable, understands spinal cord injury and he's extremely personable.  He also gave me the confidence to do things as my legs healed.  I have such confidence in Nick that  I am continuing to work with him on other issues!

Nick and Nehal are incredible therapists. They have years of experience and have seen tons of different kinds of injuries. They stay up-to-date with current research. Because they provide such great care for their patients, the only problem I’ve had with them is that they make every other healthcare provider look bad, you start to expect outstanding results and empathy from all other providers. After years of therapy, Nehal has become a family member. They have seen me at my lowest, but still treat me with dignity and respect while inspiring a sense of hope! They are excellent patient advocates and people. They gave me my life back after a severe and traumatic stroke.

Since my life-threatening brain injury, in 2014.   I have worked with, literally dozens of therapists, including many physical therapists. Nehal is the best I’ve worked with. I spent almost 6 months in-patient at Mount Sinai Hospital having daily sessions with Nehal. She took me from not being able to stand without assistance to now walking 4+ miles—no cane, no other person with me. After the pandemic, I began having balance issues, but as a private client, I began working with Nehal again. I now feel safe enough to walk alone for long distances. Nehal is creative about my problems, deeply supportive, and kind. She is, in a word, amazing

I write to recommend the physical therapy group of Nehal and Nick Manente which has provided truly extraordinary rehabilitation treatment for my wife over the course of the last 3 months after she suffered a severe brain injury.  Following several weeks of intensive care in the hospital and rehabilitation clinic, the decision was made for my wife to return home even though she had yet to make anything approaching a full recovery.  Initially, this created considerable anxiety and stress for me and my adult children who work full time outside the home and lack the necessary training to provide for her care.

My concerns were quickly allayed in my initial consultation with Nick and Nehal.  Specifically, they immediately developed and put in place a rigorous in-home program which includes twice-a-day physical therapy sessions provided by a team of four extraordinarily talented, caring and pleasant therapists, including Nick and Nehal.  As a result of their efforts, my wife has made a remarkable recovery in a few short months, far surpassing the expectations of her doctors.  In fact, after only two months of in-home treatment, my wife was cleared to resume swimming activities and travel by plane.  This unexpectedly quick progress is due primarily to the hard work and dedication of these four remarkable professionals who, as an aside, make the sessions “fun.”  In sum, my family wholeheartedly recommends this therapy group to any patient with acute rehabilitation needs.

It is with great pleasure that I write this recommendation for Nehal Patel and Nick Manente’s physical therapy group.  For years I have trusted Nick and Nehal to treat my patients knowing the level of care and attention that would be given and without exception, those patients have raved over the care they have received.  Many had previously been seen by other therapists but did not see the results expected until they worked with Nehal and Nick.

When I sustained a traumatic brain injury in the fall of 2023, it was to Nehal and Nick who I looked to and trusted for my own care: I have not been disappointed.  The substantial gains I have achieved while working with them and their team of physical therapists has  been more rapid then the recovery course outlined to me by my physicians.  I believe that the improvement seen is thanks to their expert care and close attention.

The physical therapists they have chosen to work with them have the same high ethical standards, great expertise and devotion to their patients. They are all flexible in their approach to patients and create an individual treatment plan for each patient. Unlike in many groups, there is open discussion as to what was done in each session by each -therapist in order to take advantage of each therapist’s special expertise and interest and to best treat the patient.  A patient’s treatment plan is constantly revised based on the patient’s needs and individual progress.

A great advantage in working with this group is also to be treated in one’s home in familiar surroundings both indoors and in one’s neighborhood.  The physical therapists are all highly qualified professionals, consistently showing up on time and ready to work. They strive to make each session fun but with a particular goal in mind and are flexible as needed based on their patients abilities each session.

As I was working on my strength I am not naturally drawn to exercise. However, the intelligence and personalities of Nehal and Nick have convinced me of its multiple benefits. Through our sessions my chronic lower back pain has diminished significantly.  More, I  now have skills to address other problems as they arise.

Nehal has been my savior, dealing with the devastating physical and mental effects of a stroke. She has pushed me very hard, sometimes over my loud objections; a task master, but always in a loving, caring way. Nehal always seems to know exactly the right thing to do, and has enabled me to make use of body parts that I was ready to give up on. I now consider Nehal to be a close friend, and I give her the strongest possible recommendation.

Nehal is the best! I’m an avid golfer and I’ve had a succession of physical issues over the last few years, including severe lower back tightness, neck tightness, arthritis in both knees, and a right shoulder that was in constant pain. I told Nehal that giving up golf was not an option. I have been astounded by the quality and depth of Nehal’s knowledge and analytical skills, and her ability to alleviate my issues. None of those physical issues are interfering with my golf game (which has actually improved) or my quality of life any more. I most emphatically recommend Nehal to anyone with a physical ailment that can be addressed with physical therapy.

Nick has been an extraordinary physical therapist. His expertise in his field is first class and he’s patient and understanding and has helped me get back on my feet after a serious fall. I recommend him wholeheartedly.

Ten years ago I suffered a spinal stroke. In my inpatient stay at Mt. Sinai Hospital I met Nick Manente in the Spinal Cord Injury Rehab unit. Nick is an extraordinary professional who combines technical knowledge, skill, and enthusiasm to both treat and motivate his patients. He has a deep understanding of the neuromuscular implications of spinal cord injuries which allows him to tailor exercises and treatments for an individual client. Therapy sessions are intense and purposeful. I particularly like the fact that Nick motivates me to work hard, build strength, and pursue continuous improvement. I am also grateful that Nehal was able to join my team of private therapists. Nehal also uses her own expertise in neuromuscular dynamics to address my condition on any given day. She brings a valuable added dimension to my workouts.

Nick and Nehal have been the core of my physical therapy program. Over and above their excellent professional skills, they are compassionate people who go out of their way in supporting our family. For example, when my mother-in-law broke her hip Nick volunteered his counsel and followed her hospital admission and treatments.

Nick and Nehal…I am rather certain that my neurodegenerative disease has followed an atypical positive trajectory because of: the many years you worked on the sum of my body (you made me understand the body as a whole ‘entity’), trained me in positive thinking, educated me in proper techniques (so as not to injure myself), and balancing the seriousness at hand while sharing stories, and life events with much laughter sprinkled in.

Nick, over the years you adapted my sessions to compensate for my deficits while continuing to challenge and push me until I realized that your ‘push’ was the exact amount needed to motivate and show me what my body was still capable of.

A quick side note— for years I suffered from unexplained hip area pain; no medication nor past PT helped. After one session with Nehal concentrating in this area, my pain disappeared. Nehal, that day is embedded in my soul.

I have written much, but this is merely a summary of the merits of Nick and Nehal.

I have yet to meet the team members, but I rest assured that they are committed to offering all clients a chance for their best life.

Nick and Nehal your empathy, and passion for wellness, coupled with your knowledge is I believe unprecedented.

It is my honor to know you.

Nick’s abilities and vast knowledge far exceeded any expectations we had concerning my husband’s specific physical therapy requirements. He brings discipline, expertise, ingenuity and humor to every session. We highly recommend him- you will be in good hands. On a scale of 1-10, he is 100.
